A true Story of Trust, Betrayal & Strength You Won’t Forget

I want to share my story, not because I want sympathy, it’s because maybe someone out there can learn from it.

There was a time when I had a neighbor who felt like my own sister. We were very close. When her husband passed away, she was left all alone with her two small children. I feel really bad for her. No woman deserves to go through something like that alone.

I started helping her as much as I could. Slowly, she became a part of my life. She used to come to my house almost every day. We would cook together, sit and talk for hours, and share our problems. When I got sick, she took care of my house like it was her own. She helped me with my children, and I trusted her completely.

Whenever I had to go out, even for a short time, I would leave my little daughter with her without any worry. That is how much I trusted her.
My husband also felt sorry for her. He would often say that we should help her and her children. At that time, I felt proud that my husband had a kind heart. I never doubted him.

In the beginning, she used to feel shy in front of my husband. She would not talk much and would keep her distance. But slowly, things started changing. She became more comfortable around him. She started talking to him openly, laughing, and behaving more freely.
I noticed these changes, but I ignored them. I kept telling myself that she is like my sister, and my husband would never do anything wrong.
But I was wrong.

A husband ignoring his wife

One day, I came to know something that broke me from inside. I found out that my husband had been going to her house without telling me. Not just once, but many times. He was bringing things for her, helping her secretly.

When I asked him about it, he said, “I just feel sorry for her and her children.”
I asked him, “Why didn’t you tell me? I would never stop you from helping her.”
But his answer did not feel right. Something inside me felt uneasy.
After that, everything changed.

She suddenly stopped coming to my house. No calls, no messages, nothing. I went to her house to see what happened, but she did not even open the door for me. I stood outside for a long time, but she never came out.
That day, I felt something was very wrong.
When I asked my husband, he said, “I told her not to come to our house anymore.”
I was shocked. I asked, “Why would you do that?”
And then he said something I will never forget.

He said, “Because I am going to marry her.”
At that moment, my world ended.

A woman crying in relationship

I could not believe what I was hearing. The woman I trusted like a sister… and my own husband…
He then gave me a choice. A very cruel one.
He said, “If you agree, I will marry her and keep you as well. But if you refuse, I will divorce you, throw you and the children out of the house, and still marry her.”

I felt helpless. I did not know what to do. For the sake of my children, I agreed… but only on one condition that she would stay in her house and I would stay in mine.
But things did not stay that way.
After marrying her, he started spending all his time with her. He would go to her house every day. Slowly, he stopped caring about me and our children. We became nothing to him.
And then one day, he divorced me.

Just like that.
He threw me and my children out of the house. The same house where I had built my life… where I had trusted people… where everything got destroyed.

And that woman… she came and started living in that house.
I had nowhere to go. I went to my parents’ house with my children. But even there, I did not feel comfortable. I did not want to be a burden on anyone.
My eldest son was only 18 years old, but he became very strong. He joined the army to support us.

I sold all my jewelry and rented a small house. It was not easy, but at least it was ours.
I started working from home. I stitched clothes, made sweets, and sold whatever I could. Life became very hard, but I did not give up.

Slowly, time passed.
My children grew up.
I got my daughter married with great difficulty. Her father did not even come to her wedding. My brother had to handle everything, even the legal process.
But I stayed strong.

My younger daughter was very intelligent. She always told me, “Ammi, I will become a doctor one day.” Her dreams gave me strength to keep going.
Then one day, Allah showed His mercy.
The government gave me a house.
For the first time in many years, I felt peace. I finally had a place of my own again. Alhamdulillah.
Today, I am looking for a bride for my son. Life has changed, slowly but surely.
As for my ex-husband…
He is now sick and cannot work. The same woman he chose over his own family is now taking care of everything. They have four children together.
Sometimes I think about everything, but I do not feel anger anymore.
I just feel that life teaches everyone in its own way.

I am sharing my story because I want people to understand one thing:
Don’t trust blindly.
Not everyone who comes close to you is truly yours.
Be careful about who you bring into your home and your life.
And most importantly… never forget your own worth.
Because in the end, the only person who truly stands by you… is yourself.
